Welcome to Progressive Programming

We're super excited to have you on board!

Please take some time to go through the brief orientation about our organization, culture, and more, by getting set up with our P2 dashboard.

Who We Are

In India, an enormous number of children have limited access to educational resources and opportunities. In addition, they often face explicit discrimination and other obstacles in pursuing employment. There are far too few non-profit organizations that know how to address these problems.

Our team has considerable experience supporting disadvantaged Indian children and helping students complete their education. We are passionate about this work and want to empower children to not only recognize, but realize their potential.

We are all volunteers coming together to create an alternative educational model for education in the 3rd world.

Our Structure

Holacracy is a new way of running an organization that removes power from a management hierarchy and distributes it across clear roles, which can then be executed autonomously, without a micromanaging boss. The work is actually more structured than in a conventional company, just differently so. With Holacracy, there is a clear set of rules and processes for how a team breaks up its work, and defines its roles with clear responsibilities and expectations.

In Traditional Companies

  • Job descriptions
Each person has exactly one job. Job descriptions are imprecise, rarely updated, and often irrelevant.
  • Delegated Authority
Managers loosely delegate authority. Ultimately, their decision always trump.
  • Big Re-Orgs
The org structure is rarely revisited, mandated from the top.
  • Office Politics
Implicit rules slow down change and favor people “in the know”.

With Holacracy

  • Roles
Roles are defined around the work, not people, and are updated regularly. People fill several roles.
  • Distributed Authority
Authority is truly distributed to teams and roles. Decisions are made locally.
  • Rapid Iterations
The org structure is regularly updated via small iterations. Every team self-organizes.
  • Transparent Rules
Everyone is bound by the same rules, CEO included. Rules are visible to all.

In P2 we have our roles divided into different primary circles. You may be in one circle or several and each circle has its own set of accountabilities. The circles include:

  • P2 Labs
  • Project Management Organization
  • Donor Management
  • Implementation
  • Marketing
  • Legal

Be excited to take part in an organization that is going to change the world. The work you do will eventually impact millions. If you ever need any help, please feel free to ask me or anyone else on the team.
